Seared Filet Mignon

This easy recipe for Seared Filet Mignon is a gourmet delight. This cooking technique will produce a caramelized crust and along with the seasonings you will on very delicious steak.

When this cut of meat is cooked on the stove and finished in a hot oven, you will have a steak that is perfectly cooked. I have found that cooking a thick steak this way keeps the meat juicy and it really is fantastic. I always receive rave reviews when I serve my dinner guests a steak prepared this way.

This recipe is simple, quick and scrumptious. Enjoy!

Garlic Pepper Filet Mignon

4 - 8 oz filet mignon steaks, 1 1/2 inches thick
Olive Oil
Garlic Powder
Pepper
Kosher Salt
Large Stainless Steel Pan

  • Place steaks on cutting board, blot excess
liquid from steak. Lightly salt both sides. Generously
season with pepper and garlic powder. Cover with
    plastic wrap for 40 minutes.
  • Turn oven to 485 degrees. Heat oven safe stainless teel pan to medium-high heat. Add olive oil to coat pan.
  • Place steaks in pan, do not move around, you want
a nice caramelized crust. Cook 3 minutes each side.
  • Take pan to oven, cook 5 minutes for medium rare.
Remove pan, place steak on serving dish, tent with
foil and rest 10 minutes. This allows juices to re-distribute

  • The garlic and pepper really enhance the flavor of the beef.

I like to serve this with Oven Baked Fries and a Iceberg Wedge Salad.
