Seared Ahi Tuna

This recipe for Seared Ahi Tuna is easy and delicious. The sesame oil and spices are perfect. Serve this with a fresh salad for a delightful meal to enjoy by yourself or share with your family.

Ahi Tuna is best served rare at best medium rare. When cooked medium to well done, the flavor and texture don't have the same appeal.

Ingredients:
1 - 3, 2 inch thick Ahi Tuna Steaks
Kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper
Garlic Powder
Sesame Oil
Olive oil

  • Season each side, liberally with salt, pepper
    and garlic powder. Drizzle with sesame oil, about
    1/4 tsp per side. Rub oil with the seasoning
    and allow Tuna to rest at room temperature
    for 15 minutes.
  • Place a saute pan on the stove and set to
    medium-high heat. Drizzle enough olive oil
    to lightly coat the pan. Allow to heat
    about 30 seconds, swirl the oil around. When
    hot add the Ahi, and don't move it. Let
    cook for 3 minutes, turn and cook 3 minutes,
    remove from pan. Let rest 5 minutes.






  • Serve with a Spring Salad or a Asian styls Cole slaw would be equally fantastic with this dish.
