Kitchen Utensils. . .

Essentials for Effortless Cooking

Kitchen Utensils and Kitchen Gadgets by J.A. Henckles, All-Clad, Calphalon, Cuisinart......to name a few of the best products by the best manufactures, that every home chef must have for effortless cooking. They help you organize, chop, dice, flip or whisk.

From spatulas and cutting boards to chopping knives and strainers the following items will make cooking more fun when you have the right tools.

My drawers are stocked with every Kitchen Utensil I have listed below. Some I use more then others but I do use them all. They will help you tremendously make cooking a breeze.

Pepper Mill & Salt Grinder

  • Fresh ground pepper is the best way to season with pepper. From meats, chicken and seafood to sauces, salads and potatoes, fresh ground pepper is best. I have one next to the stove and 3 or 4 smaller individual mills and salt shakers for dinner parties.

  • A Salt grinder/mill is perfect for coarse salt, like sea salt. I use this often.

  • A Good Quality Set of Knives

  • Most cutlery sets include: a carving, filleting, paring, bread, and chopping knives. Some include a set of steak knives. Each serves a specific purpose and all will help with creating your favorite meals.
  • Cutting Boards. When cleaning, chopping and cutting certain foods, you need to be cautious of things like salmonella. I have 2 cutting boards so that I can chop vegetables on one and meats on another. I have a cheese board and two small ones for cutting fruits for garnishing.

  • Spoons & Spatulas

Here are a few more essential kitchen utensils for effortless cooking:

  • Several wood spoons. I like to use these for mixing brownies or cake batter that does not require the use of a mixer.
  • 2 Serving Ladles - one small for gravy, one large for soups
  • 2 slotted Spoons - perfect for removing meats and vegetables from cooking liquids.

  • Serving Spoons - 5 or 6 different size spoons to accompany individual dishes, like casseroles, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, etc. You can easily use up to 6 for one meal.
  • 4 Rubber Spatulas - if you have at least 4 different sizes you can accomplish the task at hand.
  • Spoon Spatula - looks like a spoon on a stick!
  • 4 Flat Spatulas. These are useful for pancakes, scrambling eggs or grill cheese sandwiches. I recommend 1 small, 1 stainless steel, and 2 coated.

  • There are so many different styles, colors, shapes and sizes to fit your personality and decor! Have fun shopping for these!

    Whisk & Tongs

  • 3 or 4 Whisk. One large to handle heavy batters, one very small for vinaigrettes or blending small amounts of flour for sauces, one coated to use with tephlon coated pans and one average size.
  • Tongs - 3 different size, 1 with long handles - comes in handy when broiling or when grilling on the stove top, keeps your hands away from the heat. One medium size and one small.

  • A variety of shapes and sizes to choose from.

    Basting Brushes & Gadgets

  • 2 Basting Brushes. Excellent when you need to brush an egg wash on pastries or rolls and one for sauces like barbeque sauce.
  • Meat tenderizer. Select a round one that can be used for pounding meats thin. Around the edges of a round mallet will be different textures for tenderizing.
  • Meat Thermometers. We can't always rely on the time on a recipe to cook a meat or turkey to our preference, so thank goodness for meat thermometers. I recommend two; one classic meat thermometer that you can leave in the food while cooking and a top quality digital thermometer.
  • Measuring Spoons & Measuring Cups. These essential kitchen utensils are a must, you have to know how to measure ingredients so the recipes will turn out the way they are suppose to.

  • 2 & 4 Cup Measuring Containers. I use these when I need large quantities of liquids or chopped vegetables. I have several so that I can set these side by side with the appropriate ingredient for easy cooking.
